I wish Mel Brooks would make another spoof that shows them how to do it right. You don’t need cheap jokes for a laugh. A clever dialogue, with the right comedic timing can be hilarious. There are numerous examples throughout Spaceballs. One that comes immediately to mind is the spoken exchange between Dark Helmet (DH) and Col. Sanders (CS) in the “Then/Now” scene where they’re attempting to fast-forward an advance VHS copy of Spaceballs.

DH: What the hell am I looking at? When does this happen in the movie?
CS: Now. We’re looking at now, sir. Everything that is happening now, is happening now.
DH: What happened to then?
CS: We passed it.
DH: When?
CS: Just now. We’re at now now.
DH: Go back to then.
CS: When?
DH: Now.
CS: Now?
DH: Now.
CS: I can’t
DH: Why?
CS: We missed it.
DH: When?
CS: Just now.
DH: When will then be now.
CS: Soon.

I love spoofs. Mel Brooks and David Zucker are the best. Seltzer and friedberg are just horrible. i have to say the Wayans are very funny and have a more new age popculture vibe. especially with scary movie and dance flick. But zucker is an original and deserves respect enough to see the movie. BTW im suprised that Seltzer/friedberg havent made THE MOVIE! they suck.

Who actually goes to see these SPOOF movies anymore? I haven’t watched one since Not Another Teen Movie.

It’s sad when our movie choices run down to remakes and spoof movies. Hooray for creativity!

Yum: I somewhat disagree. Scary Movie 3/4 had some funny moments, but were no way better than the Wayan’s Scary Movie 1 & 2.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: Not Another Teen Movie is the best spoof movie out. It is vibrant, has great characters, casting, the humour is fast paced and never a dull moment through out.

Scary Movie 3 and 4 actually made me laugh, so Zucker knows what he’s doing. But that’s only when he directs! All these other movies are just plain STUPID. I guess that’s one of their goals (to look stupid) but please attempt to make us laugh. The trailer for Disaster Movie almost made me throw up . Cows falling on people and people crashing into things isn’t funny. And why make fun of movies that ARE good? Like Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. ANYWAYS, everyone knows Sci-Fi Movie is gonna bomb .

I think Chris Gore kind of tried that already with My Big Fat Independent Film. Haven’t seen it, but it didn’t look that interesting.

I for one did enjoy the Superhero movie a little bit. It’s nowhere near as bad as the other crap.

If they pull it off right, a “Foreign Movie” or “Artsy Movie” could be awesome. But then again, you can’t market that to their usual audience. /snobbishness

They are running out of genres to ruin. Here is my list of the remainng genres in order of anticipation with accompanying movies to spoof.

1. Genocide Movie – Shindler’s List, Hotel Rwanda
2. Abortion Movie – Vera Drake
3. Torture Movie – Hostel, Saw, Hills Have Eyes
4. Porno Movie – Barely 18, Debie Does Dallas, Deep Throat
