Hitting stores this week we have the animated movie that gave Ratatouille a run for its money at the Oscars, Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis, based on the graphic novel about a young rebellious girl living in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. Also out this week is the fantastical The Spiderwick Chronicles, Roland Emmerich’s 10,000 B.C., and In Bruges starring Colin Farrell. Horror fanatics will want to check out the Pakistani gore flick Hell’s Ground, or Hark Tsui’s The Eye 3 (not starring Jessica Alba). Julia Louis-Dreyfus fanatics will want to pick up the second season of The New Adventures of Old Christine. That’s about all I’ve got for ya… did I miss any noteworthy releases this week?

  1. Persepolis is a must own.

  2. Good DVDs this week.

  3. Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs!!! Oh Man, can’t wait to get off work.

  4. I’ve heard “Definitely, Maybe” is surprisingly good. I’m also interested in checking out Charlie Bartlett. You can never have too much RDJ in your life.

  5. I picked up Futurama already. In a little while I plan to sit down and watch it back to back with and without the commentary. The Futurama crew does the best commentaries I’ve ever heard.

  6. I saw “In Bruges” last night at a cinema, and it blew me away. Obviously it’s funnier in that environment than at home on DVD, but I recommend you guys check it out. Funniest film I’ve seen in a while, but also with plenty of dark moments. 4 stars.
