Disaster Movie Trailer

Here it is folks, our first look at the biggest movie event of the summer… Disaster Movie! As we reported previously, this is the latest spoof flick from the same guys who did Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans, and it looks every bit as bad as you would expect it to. Basically the trailer is just a lot of familiar celebrities getting hurt in various ways… what’s not to like?
Seriously though, I have to give these guys props for managing to get a film out with references to movies that just hit theatres. I mean… Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Hancock?! That is impressive. Hancock isn’t even out yet! No movie is safe from their sharp wit and satire. I guess the expiration windows on this kind of comedy is becoming so short that they have to rush them into theatres as quickly as possible. By the time they hit DVD, they’re already outdated. Anyway, Disaster Movie hits theatres on August 29th… the perfect way to end the summer! Check out the trailer below.

I havent seen any of these more recent spoof movies, but I dont even understand how these clips in the trailer can even be part of the same movie. Do these thing even have a story? or are they just a bunch of spoof scenes back to back? Seriously, this is not a rhetorical question.
Posted by Chip Chief on June 24th, 2008Yuck. How are they getting away with spoofing Hitchcock when it comes out a month BEFORE Disaster Movie?
Posted by Cinexcellence on June 24th, 2008Well, Epic Movie was an epic fail. It was the last movie of that sort that I have seen and have promissed myself not to see any of them ever again. There is always something (superficial quest or objective) that they would like you to think is a story, but it’s really just device to have the characters movie from one setting to the next. Then there are a bunch of references to recent events, celebs, movies, and so on, that you’re supposed to “get” and think are funny. Most often they are not. Do yourself a favor Chip Chief, and avoid this sub genre altogether.
Posted by Matt on June 24th, 2008I know this is a cliche thing to say, but never was movie more aptly named.
Posted by Andrew James on June 24th, 2008WTF. yes lets parody movies that have not even been released yet, taking the piss out of trailers where is the context, I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore. I’ts time for the revolution folks!
Posted by Lee on June 24th, 2008I think that’s the worst most unfunny trailer I have ever seen.
Posted by Brett on June 24th, 2008Thanks Matt. I wasnt planning on ever paying to see one of these movies, but I admit I have a morbid curiosity. I mean, how can you mix Narnia, Willy Wonka, and Superman into one movie? These movies arent even doing that well anymore, but they just wont die. The title doesnt even make sense from the trailer. I expected to see spoofs of The Day After Tomorrow, or The Happening, or Twister, or Titanic… but Juno??? Was that a “disaster movie” or Iron Man, or Enchanted? I am so confused.
Posted by Chip Chief on June 24th, 2008I’m with you Chip, the trailer suggests this is Superhero Movie 2. The last disaster movie I can think of is The Day After Tomorrow so I think the genre died a few years ago!
Posted by Ryan on June 24th, 2008Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer (writer and directors of date movie, epic movie, meet the spartans, and now disaster movie) might just be the two guys to actually put a sword straight through the heart of film comedy…just digustingly appallingly awful…go to thier imdb message boards, all it is is people asking for either thier deaths or suicides…everyone hates them.
Posted by Bob the Slob on June 25th, 2008also sean…i dont know if your sarcasm is coming through in this article as much as you might want it too…still good job.
Posted by Bob the Slob on June 25th, 2008with parodies like this making so much money in theaters, i dont know how people get the nerve to ask for the cancellation of snl and even mad tv (which i dont like). those shows are farm clubs for comedy which at its worst is light years ahead of anything in these films.
i mean, they dont even stock them with up and coming comedy talent. they grab the likes of fucking.. Kim Kardashian? what the fuck? could it be more transparent that even the creators of the film care more about money than pleasing a single person?
Posted by Goon on June 25th, 2008Saw the trailer today before the screening of Hellboy 2. Just wanted to say this may be the worse trailer I have ever seen. Ever. And the people who were actually laughing… well, hopefully Darwin will kick in and solve that problem.
Posted by bb6640 on July 13th, 2008ANY and ALL movies in this series blow chunks. “Date Movie”, “Epic Movie”, “Supehero Movie” and a few other that I gave a chance, but cannot match Not Another Teen Movie and the Scary Movie series. Kung Pow: Enter the Fist was great too….but on a different level.
