Earlier this week I reviewed HBO’s John Adams mini-series, and now we have our first look at their next big mini-series Generation Kill, scheduled to premiere on the network next month. While you could also say this is “uniquely American”, the content couldn’t be more different since the series is based on the experiences of U.S. troops in the early stages of the Iraq War. The Wire creators David Simon and Ed Burns adapted the seven episode mini-series from Evan Wright’s book of the same name.

It sounds like they’re hoping this will play as a modern version of Band of Brothers, but from watching the trailer it seems more along the lines of Jarhead (albeit with less boredom).
