Len Wiseman Confirmed for Gears of War Movie
We all knew it was only a matter of time before a Gears of War movie would finally get off the ground. The Xbox 360 game has simply sold too many units to brush off to the side, and after production on the film was held up by some budget problems and the shut down of New Line, it now appears to be back on track with Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard) officially signed on to direct.
Stuart Beattie (30 Days of Night, Pirates of the Caribbean, G.I. Joe) wrote the original draft of the script, but now Len Wiseman’s new writing partner Chris Morgan (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Wanted, Cellular) will be taking a stab at a rewrite. Sounds like the movie is still a ways off, but it is certainly moving forward. The next question is, which wrestlers will they cast to play the ridiculously oversized four main characters?

Can’t wait to hear Gary Jules “Mad World” over the final battle sequence, as everything is in slow motion and silent because one character has turned deaf from an explosion.

Posted by swarez on June 18th, 2008I am incredibly psyched about this film. Despite the quality of nearly (if not all) every video-game-based-movies. But alas, I think the stories, visual styles, and characters from the Halo games, Bioshock, and the Gears of War games could translate very well onto celluloid. This is one of my favorite games, I should add.
Posted by Matt on June 18th, 2008I could very well see Mickey Rourke in the main character role of Marcus Fenix. Dwayne Johnson would make an excelect Dom. Michael Clark Duncan should be Coletrain. And Baird should be played by… I’m sure they’ll scrounge up a wrestler who looks like that character. I can see the movie already play out in my head.
I think Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will be playing the lead (Marcus Feinix) b/c it says at wikipedia. I think he’ll do a great job though. He’s a really amazing (and gorgeous) actor, and I can’t wait to see him in this kick-ass action movie!
Posted by Vivienne on August 27th, 2008Yeah, I’m going for Dwayne Johnson to act in Gears of War because he suits the role of Marcus Feinix. Vin Diesel and Brad Pitt would also be good choices for the other guys. Brad Pitt isn’t really tall or muscled, but it would be cool to see him this though.
