New To Theatres This Weekend – June 13, 2008

The summer is about to hit its stride as both the Incredible Hulk and M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening roll into theatres this weekend. Can the Hulk smash Iron Man’s box office numbers? Will audiences respond to The Happening? In limited release there are very few alternatives, with Baghead and Guy Maddin’s My Winnipeg opening in just two theatres each, and Werner Herzog’s latest documentary Encounters at the End of the World playing in just 1. What are you seeing this weekend?

Especially after reading the early reviews, I’ll be interested in hearing what Jay has to say about The Happening, so I hope you guys review that on the podcast, or at least in the “What we watched” section. I’ll definitely be seeing it this weekend, as I’ve liked every other Shyamalan movie.
Posted by joe on June 13th, 2008I wanna be excited about The Incredible Hulk, but I can’t shake the feeling that it’s going to be a letdown. I don’t know what it is, because I kinda liked the Ang Lee Hulk. This movie lookes hokey and kitchy. Maybe because they reference the old Hulk TV show a lot.
Posted by Matt on June 13th, 2008I’m gonna try and see both Hulk and The Happening as I can’t decide which one to see.
Posted by Stephen on June 13th, 2008I’m seeing The Incredible Hulk although I kinda wanna see The Happening because trainwrecks are fun to watch. After Lady in the Water any level of ridiculous is possible with Shyamalan.
Posted by Ryan on June 13th, 2008I’ll be seeing The Hulk tonight, but I also plan to see The Happening some time next week.
