Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogen vs… The Apocalypse?

The Judd Apatow/Seth Rogen machine just keeps right on rolling, and it looks like they’re aiming to make a big star out of yet another one of their buddies with this next project. Jay Baruchel (aka the nerdy kid from Undeclared) will star alongside Rogen in an action-comedy called Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse. Details are scarce at the moment, but it would seem to be a play on the post-apocalyptic genre, with both Baruchel and Rogen playing fictional versions of themselves.

The movie is based on a comedy short by Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg (Superbad), a trailer for which appeared online last year. If you ask me, it sounds like comedy gold, although I do wonder if Seth Rogen is stretching himself too thin right now. No word yet on a director, but Rogen and Goldberg will write the script, and Nathan Kahane (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, Juno, The Strangers) will produce for Mandate Pictures. You can check out that “sort of fake but now kind of real” trailer for the movie below.

  1. The “Jew Tang Clan” is definitely spreading itself thin. I’m tired of hearing the name Judd Apatow. Sooner or later their names on something might mean Jack Shit if they keep this up.

  2. If you thought the Kevin Smith trailer was unfunny, you are in for a treat with this completely unfunny trailer of labored humor. I hope this break the hold Crapatow has on my Hollywood and we get back to real people that can write good comedy.

  3. Apatow ROCKS! Nobody is forcing you to watch! The whole “Jew Tang Clan” as you put it are just as amazing. But I guess anyone over the age of 70 would get it.

  4. Rather, anyone OVER the age of 70 WOULDN’T Get it… DUH..
