Adam Sandler Does Horror with New Scary Madison Division

With the release of You Don’t Mess with the Zohan this weekend, I suppose it was a good time for Adam Sandler to announce to the world that for the first time he will be stepping outside of comedy and moving into the realm of horror. Well, not him personally… just his production company.
Following in the footsteps of Kevin Smith, who also has his sights set on horror next, Sandler’s Happy Madison production company will be launching a new division called Scary Madison. The first film under the new banner will be Shortcut, directed by Nicholaus Goosen (Grandma’s Boy). Andrew Seeley (Another Cinderella Story), Shannon Woodward (The Riches) and Dave Franco (Superbad) have signed on to star. Are horror movies so easy to make that even comedians can do it? I guess we’re about to find out.

Posted by Drew on June 6th, 2008Are these really going to be horror movies meant to scare people, or are they just going to be horror-themed comedies?

Posted by Drew on June 6th, 2008What Sandler needs to do is to find his funny again cause the guy hasn’t been funny in over a decade.
Posted by Swarez on June 8th, 2008But it will be interesting to see how people react to those horror films. Most will more than likely go in thinking it’s a horror comedy and be sorely disappointed. That is if these films are straight horror.
Adam Sandler is classic, though he tends to do his best work when he stays casual, not trying too hard to be funny or deep, etc.
