New To Theatres This Weekend – May 30, 2008

The summer blockbuster train keeps rolling along this weekend, with Sex and the City, the movie sequel to the wildly popular HBO series, hitting theatres. Will enough women buy tickets to put this in competition with Iron Man or Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as the biggest movie of the summer? Going head to head with Sarah Jessica Parker and Co. is The Strangers, a horror movie starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman. If you happen to live near one of a few major cities, you may get lucky and find yourself with a few other alternatives as well including the Danny McBride comedy The Foot Fist Way, the steroids documentary Bigger, Stronger, Faster, or Stuart Gordon’s Stuck. What are you seeing this weekend?

I am very excited to see “Bigger, Faster, Stronger.”
I know it got so-so reviews, but it is a fascinating topic, ripe for a decent documentary.
I’d love to see Werner Herzog document the steroids controversy. That would be very interesting.
