David Gordon Green to Direct Fantasy Comedy Your Highness Starring Danny McBride

It certainly seems like director David Gordon Green is on the road to becoming a household name, which is a bit odd considering that the guy started his career with such acclaimed art house films as George Washington and All The Real Girls. He has since gone on to helm the upcoming stoner comedy Pineapple Express starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, and now this week we have learned that he signed on to direct another new comedy with The Foot Fist Way star Danny McBride.

The film is called Your Highness and apparently takes place “in a kingdom with dragons and wizards”. McBride plays “an arrogant, lazy prince who must complete a quest to save his father’s kingdom”. Hey, it certainly sounds original enough… it’s not every day that you hear about a comedy that takes place in a fantasy world that isn’t Epic Movie or Shrek. I still have yet to see The Foot Fist Way, but McBride seems to be gaining momentum as an up and coming comedy star, and Green is proving he has the ability to jump between genres effortlessly. Let’s just hope he doesn’t get bogged down doing too many “laffers”… I still want to see what else this guy has to offer!

  1. Wow. Back in film school when I was all over films like “George Washington” and “All the real girls” i never would have seen DGG going anywhere near the mainstream movie business.

I’m very interested to see where his career goes. “George Washington” is great, by the way. Everyone should see it. Love to see that one on The Movie Club Podcast.
