R.I.P. Sydney Pollack

Hollywood has lost a talented and respected man this week, as Sydney Pollack passed away yesterday afternoon at his home in Los Angeles. He had been diagnosed with cancer approximately nine months ago. Not only was Sydney Pollack a respected filmmaker, but he was also a gifted actor. Some of his most well-known works include Out of Africa (for which he won Best Picture and Best Director), Tootsie and They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?. He also recently starred in and produced the Academy Award-nominated George Clooney film Michael Clayton. His last on-screen performance was in the Patrick Dempsey romantic comedy Made of Honor. What will you remember most about Sydney Pollack’s illustrious career?

Posted by Lord Dungbeetle on May 27th, 2008Had the pleasure of spending an evening with him in Indianapolis last year. He was showing an excellent documentary on his friend, architect Frank Gehry. Very gracious.
