Soundwave Will Be in Transformers 2

Did you hear that? That was the sound of fanboys around the world collectively wetting themselves. It appears that the writers of Transformers 2 have made it their goal to correct the one and only flaw in the entire first flick: the lack of Soundwave! Okay, obviously I’m kidding… the first Transformers movie had plenty of problems, but I do remember there being a fair amount of backlash when it was announced that this classic character would be missing in action. At the time, I remember reading a leaked draft of the script that still included Soundwave, and I was convinced that he would still make a surprise appearance. Well, it turns out he didn’t.
In a recent interview with IGN, however, writer Roberto Orci confirmed that he would indeed make it into the sequel, along with one of his famous underlings: “You know, we had Ravage in an early draft of the first movie and Soundwave, and we couldn’t do it right and I think this time hopefully we’ll have the ability to do it.”
It still remains to be seen exactly how a cassette tape player will make any sense in the ultra-hip and modern world of Michael Bay’s Transformers. Perhaps he will be re-envisioned as an MP3 player, and Ravage will be a flash memory card? Hey, if Microsoft is smart, they will look into getting the Zune brand name on him right now!

LOL. that was funny. You had me going for a little bit. Transformers was one of the worst films I have seen in my life, if not the worst.
Posted by Matt on May 19th, 2008Transformer’s forced humour, tacked on romantic sub-plot and over use of special effects were out shined by the “used car lot” and “hot chick working on car” scenes.
Posted by Baychuk on May 19th, 2008I don’t see why Transformers gets so much hate. It was just a summer action movie that promised plenty of action and great special effects. It delivered on both.
Posted by Stephen on May 19th, 2008True, Stephen….but it could have been better on many levels. I already named the good parts.

All I have to say is they ruined MEGATRONS classic character. That sums up the movie & the Transformers franchise for me.
Posted by PRED on July 18th, 2008Yeah, but it was a SHITTY summer movie. How complicated was it to make a movie with no plot and a lot of transforming robots? No, instead, they had to show Shea Leboeuf 70% of the time.
