J.J. Abrams’ Fringe Trailer

Here’s a promo for another new Fox series called Fringe. This one’s from Mr. J.J. Abrams, and if you needed any more proof that he was officially taking over Chris Carter’s job (and fanbase), well, here you go. This show is about a top secret research division of the FBI known as “Fringe Science”. The head of the division was a renegade scientist named Walter Bishop who became so obsessed with his research into strange phenomena that he ended up being institutionalized. Now his son and a female FBI agent must pick up the pieces and attempt to find the connection between unexplained global occurrences and the “Prometheus Corporation”.

Yeah, it all sounds kind of familiar, but so far I’m still on board with this, save for one minor detail: Joshua Jackson. His acting is pretty horrible in this promo… I simply cannot take the guy seriously. Check out the video below and see what you think. Will Fringe be the next X-Files?

  1. At the start of the trailer I thought I was watching an ad for an unseen episode of the X-Files. Having said that I”m a big fan of the X-Files so I’ll give this show a chance. That and JJ Abrams has a pretty good record in my book.

Still Joshua Jackson looks like he is giving a terrible performance.

  2. This looks reeeeeeeeeeally stereotypical of the genre. I like sci-fi and LOST though, so I guess it’s worth a shot.

  3. This looks great. the production value is loads better than most tv shows

  4. Looks like shit. But I thought the same thing about the x-file previews. I’ll give it a chance.

  5. Whoa, Cedric Daniels from the wire (Lance Reddick) is really slumming it here.

Looks like warmed over crapatola. TV like this does nothing for me.

“This is above Top Secret” – maybe that is compelling if I was under 12, but it just wreaks of LAME.

  6. Between this and Dollhouse it looks like both the well respected sci-fi show creators have dropped the ball. The trailers are supposed to sell me on the show, not scare me away!!!

  7. I predict another show where the premise will be very interesting and then things will drag on and on until we lose interest in anything this is about, just like Alias and Lost.
