This Week on DVD - May 13, 2008

Looking at this week’s new release list, there’s not much worth renting, let alone buying, but you may find a hidden gem somewhere in the mix. Francis Ford Coppola’s Youth Without Youth is out on DVD and Blu-ray (although it received dismal reviews), and Xavier Gens’ (Hitman) first film Frontier(s) is also out, along with new individual special editions of each of the Indiana Jones movies. In terms of more recent mainstream releases, Denzel Washington stars in The Great Debaters, Diane Lane stars in the hokey thriller Untraceable, and Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes and Queen Latifah star in Mad Money. P. Diddy scores his first major role in A Raisin in the Sun, while Leelee Sobieski and Tricia Helfer don dominatrix outfits in Walk All Over Me. Do you see anything worth checking out this week?

At long last, “Bon Cop, Bad Cop” can be a part of my collection.
Posted by Jon Rocks on May 13th, 2008Shinobi is a pretty fun little movie - and on Blu-ray I’m sure it will look awesome. It’s sort of an X-Men meets Crouching Tiger type of film. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Posted by Andrew James on May 13th, 2008I’ve had Shinobi sitting on the shelf for months and still haven’t seen it
I’m curious to check out Autism: The Musical, Youth Without Youth - even with the crappy reviews, and Frontier(s). Walk All Over Me is solid. Not as funny as I expected but definitely fun.
