This Week on DVD – Apr. 22, 2008

Cloverfield makes a fairly quick bow on DVD this week, only 3 months after it was playing in theatres, along with a couple of critical hits from 2007 in The Savages and Charlie Wilson’s War. The U.S. remake of Takashi Miike’s One Missed Call is also in stores this week, along with the Guillermo Del Toro-produced ghost movie The Orphanage and Joe Swanberg’s latest mumblecore hit Hannah Takes The Stairs. As for TV on DVD, the second season of Friday Night Lights streets today, as well as the long-awaited first season of the bizarre but brilliant live-action Adult Swim show Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!.

  2. I picked up that Cloverfield steelbook edition. It was $11.99 at FYE (The American version of an HMV type store.)

    I may eventually re-buy it on Blu-Ray, but I won’t lose sleep over $12 to have it now.

    The Orphanage is looking like it will also end up on my shelf by this weekend.

  3. Why would you buy cloverfield on blu-ray? the shaky-cam is going to ruin the hi-def experience anyway.
