I'm surprised to hear that 'Inside' is exclusive at Blockbuster because I've seen it available for rent on Netflix ever since it came out.

Gung Ho has now been cast for the GI Joe movie. I can only assume that Jay's interest in the film has taken a serious turn for the better with this stunning news.

I was surprised that Ben Stein would be the host of a documentary about ID, I didn't know he was such a devout christian, mostly because I thought he was a practicing jew, but I know very little about the jewish faith so I have no idea if ID is something that they believe in.
Usually celebrities stay away from controversial material like this to secure their popularity but I guess Stein is more of a cult figure rather than a true full fledged celebrity.

"I was really unsatisfied with the ending of thank you for smoking, i wish that ol’ nick naylor would of stayed an asshole instead of “learning his lesson”"

If you're looking for a movie with Aaron Eckhart where he stays an asshole, I highly recommend you seek out "In the Company of Men". A very good movie from the director of the very bad Wicker Man remake.

"The IDers think they deserve parity because their ideas are popular among the theist majority. "

Yup, they think facts are chosen democratically.

I was really unsatisfied with the ending of thank you for smoking, i wish that ol' nick naylor would of stayed an asshole instead of "learning his lesson", by the way i do not recomend watching any film on you tube, not only is the video quality terrible but its split into pieces.

@ " Is it really a documentary about intelligent design or is it about the “arrogance” of scientists that deny it and the poor people who try to get this idea recognized in the scientific community?"

That distinction implies that ID is anything more than a PR / political movement. It's a distinction I might be willing to consider when someone can point to a single research grant given by the Discovery Institute or any other ID outfit.

@ "the open-minded people who are shunned and ridiculed by liberal fascists for trying to discuss [Intelligent Design]"

I know you weren't necessarily advocating this idea just re-iterating it but that's a statement that is just profound in it's misguidedness.

The IDers think they deserve parity because their ideas are popular among the theist majority. Well that makes sense in the democratic sense but not in the scientific sense. You don't get to sue for scientific legitimacy. Far from being a persecuted minority they're actually a majority claiming they deserve special rights and privileges.

I don't recall Charles Darwin filling lawsuits all the time and accusing people of being whatever the nineteenth century equivalent of "nazi" was. He wrote up his merticulously researched findings and submitted them for professional review. It was many years later that the fossil record and genetic evidence would conclussively confirm his hypothesis.

It's called the scientific method and if the IDers want to be taken seriously as a science then all they have to do is start practicing it. Instead they'd rather publish Wedge Documents, distribute PR documentaries and accuse their detractors of being Nazis. They need to get out of the court room and get into the laboratory.

I too was under the impression that "Expelled" was not really a doc on Intel Design, but actually on the open-minded people who are shunned and ridiculed by liberal fascists for trying to discuss it. I've never seen the movie (though I plan to), so I could totally be wrong about this.

I was lucky enough to see La Jetee in a theater and it was indeed amazing. You should check it out on google video if you don't live in a metropol though, it's a great film.

Kurt: The opening credits is the only thing about 12 Monkeys worth the film it's shot on :-P!

La Jetee on Google Video is pretty darn solid. Mainly because the film is all stills. It's still be 100 times better in a Theatre.

Thank-You for Smoking was pretty solid from point of view of Aaron Eckhart's main character, and his philosophy on debate...Priceless. I think TYFS is a bit underrated actually...And That opening title sequence totally ROCKS, and the film is cinematic enough that watching on YouTube is idiotic.
