Brett Ratner to Remake The Incredible Shrinking Man Starring Eddie Murphy

Although there’s a petition out there on the internet to try and get Uwe Boll to stop making movies, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that a similar petition existed for good ol’ Brett “The Rat” Ratner. I don’t even really understand what he did to piss people off, aside from taking over X-Men 3 from Bryan Singer (I didn’t even think he did a bad job with it, but that’s obviously irrelevant). It seems that now everything the guy does is met with fanboy derision, bitterness and angry blog posts. While his remake of Escape From New York never ended up getting off the ground, it looks like he has now found his way into another remake. Prepare yourself… regardless of whether or not you care about the original, this just might piss you off.
Ratner has reportedly signed on to direct a remake of Jack Arnold’s 1957 film The Incredible Shrinking Man (based on the novel by Richard Matheson). While the original is a classic sci-fi tale, the remake will apparently be turned into a wacky comedy of sorts. Just to give you an idea of what kind of movie this is going to be, Eddie Murphy is attached to star, and both Peter Segal and Keenen Ivory Wayans had previously been in talks to direct. Now I ask you… is this a brilliant idea or what?

Another Murphy film where he is a shrunk down version of himself?
These films must be making some serious cash if they keep churning them out like that. Why the hell hasn’t anybody gotten him to do an action comedy again?

Posted by Itchy-Finger on April 18th, 2008This movie looks about as fun as thorough proctological exam.
There must be a big market for this crud….then again there is a big market for those films where chicks in high heels stomp on kittens.
Posted by Lord Dungbeetle on April 18th, 2008Seems like this will be more a remake of “The incredible shrinking woman” from 1981, wich already was a very unfunny comedy (with some great Rick Baker Apework;). Probably Murphy can hide again under lots of makeup for this, so that nobody remembers him from movies like Trading Places or 48 hours anymore. Again another chance for Baker also…
Posted by theDia on April 18th, 2008Lots of hate for Eddie Murphy– what about for that worthless turd Brett Ratner. I can’t stand him.
