The Wackness Trailer

When I first heard about Jonathan Levine’s movie The Wackness, it was because of the headline that Mary-Kate Olsen plays a drug dealer and also Ben Kingsley’s love interest in the film. At the time it seemed like maybe the film was trying too hard to be controversial and play actors against type (Southland Tales anyone?), but at the very least it did sound like something a little bit out of the ordinary. Then the movie premiered at Sundance and the blogosphere lit up like a Christmas tree, adopting this movie as their new cult hit. Sony Pictures Classics acquired the rights, and now they have released the first teaser trailer for the film.
I have to say, it may just be a teaser trailer, but there isn’t much here that seems to justify all the love this film has received thus far. If anything, I suppose the visual style is kind of neat, but it didn’t seem all that funny to me. Check out the clip below and see what you think. The Wackness also stars Josh Peck, Olivia Thirlby, Famke Janssen and Method Man, and it hits select theatres on July 3rd.

that was a horrible trailer! it didn’t show any plot lines any good moments in the film and makes it seem like the film is about the guy being a virgin. The movie may be amazing but whoever put out that trailer should be fired cuz i don’t see how that can make anyone want to watch the movie
Posted by fizzle on April 16th, 2008I don’t know– I have had a problem with this film since I heard 2 things– the title, and the fact that Mary-Kate Olson is in it. Looks like garbage.
