Bobism: The Future Will Be Based on Some Guy’s Blog?

Here’s an intriguing concept for a film… what if you were to learn that your blog had somehow become the template by which people live their lives 1000 years from now? Does that even make any sense? I suppose that’s beside the point. MGM have purchased a comedy script from writer Ben Wexler called Bobism, that can apparently be summed up in one sentence: “a shy collegian discovers that life in 1,000 years will be based on his blog”.

Perhaps this is an Idiocracy-type thing where the world enters a dark age, and this kid’s blog posts are somehow discovered as the only artifact from the past, leading people to rebuild society around them. I’m just speculating here… it sounds kind of like Encino Man in reverse, doesn’t it? Wexler has previously written for The King of Queens and Still Standing, and is also working on a TV adaptation of the Will Smith movie Hitch. There isn’t much to go on, but I am predisposed to support any and all movies that reference blogging and other forms of internet culture. 50 bucks says Justin Long is already in talks to star.

  1. I’ll meet your 50 bucks and raise you my blog, my tv and my car that you’re right and frankly if Justin Long actually does star in the movie, I’ll be there.

  2. I got all excited when I read the title of your post. The name of my blog is, in fact, “Some Guy’s Blog”.

    My excitement was short-lived.

  3. Looks like it could be a very interesting script. Although it does sort of remind me of Explorers, and how the aliens learned from our TV signals that they received. But hey, Explorers was a great film, so I have high hopes for this film.

  4. I’m bitter because no one reads my blog
