The numbers don't lie. One of the statistics I found so astounding I had to do a double take. In D.C., over 60% of the population is black. Taking this number into account, around 99% of incarcerated people from the city are black. Every state has a disproportianate number of black people in jail or prison. If that doesn't bother you, I would pay attention to the first raid the DEA Detroit group conducts. I'm not referring to the one during the opening sequence. It is the first "official" raid. Watch it in slow motion even. You will see a young black man standing on the sidewalk when the raid van pulls up in front of him. The man is startled and throws his hands in the air. After this, he is then thrown to the ground, and told, "Get on the God damn ground!" By the way, I'm a white middle aged woman, and I definitely am bothered by the fact that all but about 2 or 3 people arrested throughout all 6 episodes are black. I just found the show an example of the failure of the current drug policy in this country. One of the best I've ever seen. And as for "whoever wrote the script," it's a reality show-- a documentary, there is no script. So if it seems like a lot of blacks are being arrested (I heard were using black now) maybe you should take a look at the area demographics. I agree with John, were all sick of the race card. This show just gives me a lot of respect for these agents. They are literally stopping criminals in my neighborhood. The show is amazing. One of the best I’ve ever seen.
