Joy Ride 2 Trailer and Poster

Well out of all the tacky direct to video sequels we’ve seen coming out lately, finally here’s one I might actually consider seeing! Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead is the sequel to the 2001 horror/thriller starring Steve Zahn, Paul Walker and Leelee Sobieski. The original took a silly premise but managed to make it work, and now it looks like everyone’s favourite homicidal trucker Rusty Nail is back at it again! Err… sort of.
You may notice in the trailer for Joy Ride 2 that Ted Levine (aka Buffalo Bill) is obviously not providing the voice of Rusty Nail this time around, instead he is replaced by a hilarious imposter. Not surprisingly, the cast is also full of mostly unknown TV actors. Strangely, this only makes the movie that much more appealing! Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead hits DVD this October. Check out the trailer premiere over at Bloody Disgusting via the link below.

I remember being really excited to see the original Joyride when it came out in theaters and I can’t really remember why. Walker and Zahn weren’t really big names back then from what I can remember or anything. I did enjoy it though. I have it on DVD but probably haven’t watched it in four or five years. This sequel holds no interest for me, unfortunately, though seeing the trailer did make me want to revisit the original again…

Posted by GOTHICARAVEN on July 2nd, 2008Kyle Schmid who is one of the STARS in Joy Ride II is by NO means an UNknown actor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
READ his filmography bio to see that I am Right. He is going to BIG someday and not so long down the road either.
I regret that I come off here a bit on the, let’s say, aggressive side but I DO WISH you guys who make these UNINFORMED comments would FIRST INFORM yourselves!!!!!!!!!
It would save you a LOT of heartache from DISGRUNTLED fans like myself.
After observing, I realize the complication in what I’ve decided. It is difficult to get away from the simmilarity in the voice of (Rusty Nail) in Joy Ride II and that of Jack Starrett of (First Blood Part I)
Posted by bigmackilt on August 26th, 2008It just won’t be the same without Leelee Sobieski, but I am looking forward to this new movie!!
Posted by Chuck on September 21st, 2008I don’t understand why they are even making a sequel. It’s bad enough that they don’t have any of the same actors, but it says something about the movie that they can’t even get the same guy to do the voice over work. Also, in the dvd version of the movie they have four alternate endings so which ending are they going to connect the first one with the second one. They should just call this what it is, a crappy remake of the first Joy Ride. You can’t just have a movie about a truck driver, name him rusty nail, and call it a sequel.
Posted by moviegurl89 on October 6th, 2008GOTHICARAVEN, why don’t you shut the fuck up? The first review was talking about the original.
Posted by NPrairie on October 7th, 2008I had mixed emotions. The set up story in the sequel had a bit more substance. Miss the original actors. The torture scenes were a bit over the top though the movie was certainly intense, which is good for a horror sequel.
