Joss Whedon’s Web Musical with Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris

While the writer’s strike was going on, there were a lot of bored writers and a lot of actors looking for work. Since striking WGA members were not restricted from writing for the internet, a lot of people were speculating we might see an explosion of digital content in the form of video podcasts and web shorts. That never really came to pass (I guess the strike didn’t last long enough), but it looks like at least one high profile writer still has plans to follow through with his web project.
Fanboy fave Joss Whedon is developing a limited series for the web right now called Dr. Horrible’s Sing A Long Blog. It is described as a musical about “a low-rent super-villain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he’s too shy to talk to”. The exciting part is that it stars Whedon’s buddy Nathan Fillion, along with Neil Patrick Harris and Felicia Day (Vi from Buffy). Whedon spills all the details in the comments of this Whedonesque post. I have to admit, I’m pretty interested to see this. Could it also inspire more big names to bring their talent to the web, or will it just be a one-shot deal?

Posted by Drew on March 20th, 2008Sorry, I should have been more clear… that video is from an episode of Buffy, that is not the web musical mentioned in the post. That is still in production right now.
