You might be confusing Gilliam’s screenplay of Good Omens and Gaiman’s and Pratchett’s universal praise of that screenplay with the Watchmen one. Or hell, maybe he did say that about Gilliam’s as well, but from what I recall Moore has been fairly against any Watchmen adaptation no matter what.

If these pictures came out and it was M. Night Shyamalan or Sam Mendes directing, I wouldn’t be worried because I knew there was going to be a brain behind the decisions. When it’s Zack Snyder, I know that there is not a brain behind them. He didn’t luck into anything awesome.

I think that Zack Snyder is getting way too much credit as well. If he actually thinks of himself as capable of the same level of genius in terms of making a satirical piece without any satire in it, practically redefining the worlds view on an entire artform, then he better deliver. Otherwise he should stick to the storyboards. He is a fucking colonic worm.

I think what Rusty’s saying is that Zack Snyder is trying to do the same thing for the current time period that Moore and Gibbons did back when the comic first came out. I think that might be giving Snyder a bit too much credit though.

In response to what Less Lee was saying above… I think Moore has already publicly condemned the movie and said he wants no part of it. I could be wrong on that, but I’m pretty sure I remember hearing that.

But even besides that, those costumes should look like something found 50 years ago and they don’t. They look like modern costumes. Ozymandias in particular looks absolutely ridiculous.
