Starship Troopers 3: Marauder is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. It may even be worse than Highlander 2. I want my money back *plus* damages for pain and suffering. It’s like an unintentional parody of the first movie. Absolutely AWFUL!

Some of this stuff annoys me.

1- ST is a B-movie series because it’s supposed to be a B-movie series. It’s the same as those old war films from the fifties and sixties. The only difference is that this was done intentionally to satirize such films.

2- The MI doesn’t have armor support because that would make fighting the bugs too easy. No one ever made a movie about the horrors of the backlines (at least not a good one). Another possible reason is that tanks are not mobile enough to compete with the bugs, infantry is fluid and adaptable, armor can only operate under certain conditions. Air support is also difficult because tankers can shoot plasma. A better question would be “Why not just destroy the planet?”

3- Elevated positions are a bad idea against the bugs because 1: tankers can more easily undermine land that’s been softened by building and 2: every bug you kill from an elevated position gives the other bugs another step closer to you whereas, from a trench, a burrowing tanker would be more evident and tunneling up would not compromise the entire structure. Also, killing bugs from a trench would increase the distance the others would have to cover rather than decrease it as they would have to climb up AND THEN down their dead comrades, giving defenders more time to shoot them, making the other bugs’ journey even more difficult.

Not a bad trailer, although if you look hard enough they’ve ripped off a few effects/scenes from the original Starship Troopers.

Well…it dose not look totally horrible, has got to be better the #2 (which was a complete disgrace to the title “Starship Troopers”). This one looks decently ok tho.

I liked the first one, but the lack of support units is annoying. No tanks or anything. Just like in the second one, sending a bunch of men and women into combat against a colony of arachnids was just putting soldiers in a “meat grinder.” (some soldier tells one of the main characters holding a baby) And even though its a trailer, putting soldiers in a trench is not a good idea. A well defended hill or mountain side is a good idea, or an outpost like in the first movie. You’d think a futuristic military would have better knowledge in both terrain and warfare tactics. Then again its just a movie.

I hope this movie is better than the second one. The first one was good. I really didnt get the point of the second one. In the end of the second one, they made it look like a “documentary” about a hero to boost the morale of people civilians and soldiers. I want more action and more bug killing in this. And no random sex scenes that really have no purpose in the movie, but to boost the ratings to make it rated “R.”

Damn…why am I just seeing this now! Looks ok, but nowhere as good as the first one which seemed to combine the elements of romance/horror/drama/comedy beautifully! This seems to pile on more cheeze and forced humour. I’ll check it out, because I love the “Starship Trooper” concept of humans fighting giant alien bugs. I think Caspar Van Diem is cool too!

At first I thought it was some kind of satire on war movies around the world, the kind of patriotic movies where they are ‘fighting for their lives against innumerable odds’. And then the shooting began and I thought, they are actually taking this seriously!
Not cool. If you’re going to make an action movie, make fun and snarky and smart, not just relying on guts, blood, gore and lots of gunfire.
