Jamie Foxx to Star in Mike Tyson Biopic?
A few years back there was talk about someone making a movie based on the life of former heavyweight boxing champ/all around nut job Mike Tyson. I don’t know that there have ever been any production deals in place for such a thing, but as far back as 2005 Jamie Foxx said he was interested in portraying Iron Mike on the big screen. Now it looks like the project has surfaced once again, with Tyson recently bring it up in an interview.
“Jamie Foxx and I will be working together. He will play me in the film about my life. We already talked about it several times.”
You really have to wonder who initiated the idea, because if Mike Tyson is the one doing the asking, would Foxx really say no? I don’t think anyone with half a brain would say no to Mike Tyson’s face. On the other hand, I do think his life story is worth bringing to the big screen, I just have a hard time believing any respectable actor would want to associate themselves with Tyson. Let’s face it, the man has done a lot of questionable things over the years, and if they were to gloss over them in the movie, no one would bother seeing it. Is this a movie you’re interested in? Can you see Jamie Foxx in the lead role?

Yeah, the fact that this story is based on something Tyson said himself makes me think it’s bunk. He is truly out of his mind. But it figures Jamie Foxx would be the one to do it because, after all, he can’t act at all. The only thing he can do are impersonations. Personally, I’d like th film to get mae with Tyson playing himself the whole way through. You couldn’t stop me from seeing that.
And Sean, you do have a point… I don’t know if this is a story worthy of a big screen movie. There is no redemptive ending, and being that Tyson is still alive, I know they wouldn’t end on the sad note that they really should. His is not a happy story. I hope this on doesn’t get made. Now I’m just fucking rambling…

Tom Cruise could play Little Mac. Maybe Bob Hoskins could do a cameo as a Mario reffing the fights.
