Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler Clip Starring Mickey Rourke
I’m always curious to see what might come next from the mind of an imaginative director like Darren Aronofsky. I know a lot of people were divided on his last film The Fountain, and although I will readily admit that it was a little wacky at points, I came into it expecting incoherence and was pleasantly surprised to find a fairly grounded story at its core. That said, I’ve been completely caught off guard by The Wrestler, his next movie that is currently in production as we speak.
The movie is about (surprise surprise!) an independent wrestler named Randy “The Ram” Robinson, who comes out of retirement for one last showdown with his former rival. There are no science-fiction or fantasy elements to this movie as far as I can tell, and this clip that recently leaked online seems to indicate that it will be quite raw and violent. It seems like a perfect role for Mickey Rourke; can you believe that Nicolas Cage was supposedly in talks to star at one point? Witness some craziness in the video below, just be prepared to have any pre-conceived notions about what a Darren Aronofsky movie should be completely shattered! The dude in the photo with Mickey Rourke is one of the Headshrinkers. A WWF Hall of Fame tag team. His name is Sika and he is related to both Superfly Jimmy Snika and the Rock.
