For me, No Country for Old Men is nearly a perfect film…. I haven’t seen all the contenders, but I don’t see how it doesn’t take Best Picture. Hell, it was sweeping Critics Awards like nobody’s business…. took more than any other film in history by a pretty large margin, I believe.

I’m thinking No Country will get best picture. Coen’s will get best director. Lewis will get best actor.

Diablo Cody is a huge deal at the moment, no matter how desperate she is to be considered “different”, and I think that she will get the oscar for Juno, a movie that doesnt deserve all the attention its getting. She is the new big thing. She’ll probably be gone in a couple years. Maybe.

I think “No Country” should win, but Juno will probably win. The voters are clueless, so nothing surprises me.

“There will be blood” is the film that should win, but “No Country for Old Men” is more widely appreciated. I think if “There Will Be Blood” loses, it will be one of those cases where, in a few years, everyone will think it’s insane that it didn’t win best picture. And to have “Juno” even in the running is an affront to filmmakers everywhere.

I have seen all of the nominated films and I think that No Country should win, though I would love to see Juno upset. My thought about There Will Be Blood is that it’s quite good, but mostly because of Day-Lewis’ performance… standing as a whole, it and Michael Clayton are good, but not quite in the same league as the other three.
