Monday Morning Box Office Report – Feb. 18, 2008

Well what do you know… maybe people really do want to see big budget blockbusters all year round. Doug Liman’s Jumper cashed in at the box office this weekend, amassing $27 million even though critics had almost unanimously panned it. I suppose this means there’s a good chance that a sequel will be happening after all. In the #2 position, somewhat surprisingly, was Step Up 2 The Streets (these dance movies seem to be performing consistently well). The Spiderwick Chronicles was a close #3, with just over $19 million, while Fool’s Gold and Definitely, Maybe, the two most obvious Valentine’s Day date movies, did mediocre business at #4 and #5 respectively. Juno is still hanging in the top 10, and incidentally so is The Bucket List, if you can believe it.
