Uwe Boll’s Far Cry Movie Trailer

Hooray! The trailer for Uwe Boll’s latest video game to movie abomination has hit the web. This is Boll’s take on the popular first-person shooter Far Cry, about a former Special Forces agent named Jack Carver, who finds himself stranded on a tropical island in Micronesia, in search of a female journalist. And wouldn’t you know it, someone on the island has been creating genetically modified monsters!

I am guessing that the people at development house Crytek are now wishing they hadn’t sold Boll the rights to the game… of course, he supposedly bought them before the game had even been released. This was also back before Boll had become well-known for making such terrible films. Far Cry stars Til Schweiger and Udo Kier (if you can believe it), and apparently even features a cameo from Anthony Bourdain as a scientist! Something tells me this won’t end up playing in many theatres, although it could capture the Resident Evil crowd if it was marketed properly. Check out the trailer below.

  1. Best. Movie. Ever.

  2. I can’t believe how bad that movie looks. I mean if the trailer is that bad how much worse can the actual movie be?

  3. Stereotypes, stereotypes, stereotypes. Crazy scientists making super soldiers? “Is that your gun?” Former Special Forces agent? “Jack Carver”? Bullshit.

  4. The main appeal of the game was the beautiful lush tropical environment and this shows off ugly pine forest and some abandoned facility. This guy will never learn his lesson, always choosing games with lame stories to begin with and then making terrible movies from that. Movies are a storytelling medium and I’ll admit that many video games have lame stories that work for games but really are crap stories, case in point. We need a proven director doing a movie from a game with an actual story and then maybe we’ll get some quality stuff.

  5. Where are these movies coming from? Didn’t he just have one out? I think Uvey Bowl is actually an alias for several people, probably an obscure dadaist cult.

I heard his next film stars Lillian Gish and Marlon Brando.

  6. To be fair, this doesn’t look at all different from alot of the trailers for stuff like Jumper, or Ghost Rider or whatever. Except for the inexplicable (at least by me) video-camera look that alot of the fight scenes seem to have. I thought it was funny when Udo Kier said “Let’s not go over the top”.

  7. sweet don s davis better known as major general hammond on stargate, I might go see it just for him but this looks like some thing that might as well be a scifi channle original movie than a big screen releas. safe to say the video game movies hould be done with after RE extinction un less peter jakson does halo then ill go see that for sure far cry not so much.

  8. I like the “over the top” line, especially in a movie like this… :)

  9. It’s very rare video game film adaptation actually works, I doubt this will buck the trend.

  10. You had me at Uwe Boll
