Batman: Gotham Knight Animated Teaser Trailer
Curious about the previously announced direct-to-DVD anime prequel Batman: Gotham Knight? Well, you’re in luck, because a 10 minute preview of the project has just popped up on the web. This video is similar in style to the promotional video for Justice League: The New Frontier, consisting of interviews with the people involved and some concept artwork, along with a few fully animated clips here and there. Personally I think this looks fantastic, and even though I’m not a hardcore anime guy, the variety of styles offer some fascinating new ways in which to view Batman. Batman: Gotham Knight hits stores sometime this summer, prior to the release of The Dark Knight in theatres.

I haven’t seen all of the recent DC and Marvel direct to DVD animated films that have been coming out lately, but the few I have seen haven’t impressed me one bit. This on the other hand, looks damn good. A lot of my problems with the animated films coming out from these companies lately is that the animation feels “stock”. There’s nothing special about the styles used and it just feels generic and uninspired. Gotham Knight looks to be going in a completely different direction, so I plan to reward DC’s courage in trying something new with a few of my hard earned dollars come the release date. Thumbs up.
Posted by Rian on February 15th, 2008I love Batman. Greatest superhero ever. The Joker is the greatest villain ever. Can’t wait for The Dark Knight. And I’ll definitely buy Gotham Knight. Gotta be better than Batman Vs. Dracula… right?
