Crysis Video Game Movie in the Works

I guess it’s no surprise that with just about every successful video game that gets released nowadays, the developers are already thinking about the possibility of a feature film adaptation. It appears the latest game that may be clawing its way to the big screen is the PC sci-fi shooter Crysis, created by German development house Crytek. The story centers on a Delta Force soldier in the future who must battle hostile aliens and (of course) North Korean commies.

In an interview with Kotaku, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli had this to say: “A Crysis movie is definitely planned… We are in active talks already. I think we will close this topic before the end of this year.” Of course, their previous game Far Cry is currently being directed for the screen by the notorious Uwe Boll. It remains to be seen if Boll would be involved in the Crysis movie, but Yerli had mostly nice things to say about him. “Most importantly, I would say he is financially successful. Critically, sure, they’re not the best movies, but he knows that, too.” Oh, good… well as long as he knows he sucks.

  1. At least you’d be guaranteed to see the movie if you went to the cinema. Unlike the game where you have to travel into the future and bring back a PC capable of playing the game.

  2. Good point. This will probably by the first game I pick up when I upgrade my PC in 5-7 years.
