Will Ferrell Cross-Promotes Semi-Pro with Old Spice Commercials
It looks like Will Ferrell is pulling out all the stops when it comes to promoting his next film Semi-Pro. In addition to a sold out comedy tour that he is bringing to various U.S. colleges this month, Ferrell is also set to appear in a series of Old Spice commercials as his alter-ego, basketball star Jackie Moon.
Although most big name actors typically turn up their noses at appearing in TV commercials (in North America, at least), Ferrell brings his usual creativity and flair to the table, making the commercials seem less like advertising and more like short comedy sketches and/or parodies of TV commercials. (Bruce Campbell also appeared in some Old Spice commercials last year, which proved to be popular on the web.)
While I’m sure the Ferrell spots will turn up on YouTube eventually, for now you can watch a bunch of them over on the Old Spice website, where you can also vote for your favourites. The highest-rated ones will presumably air on television in the near future. In summary, weapons grade odor and wetness cock fight, this stuff works. I’m Jackie Moon illegal. Semi-Pro hits theatres on February 29th.
