Mike Judge Gets a New Animated Series: The Goode Family

After his less than satisfactory experience with Idiocracy, it appears that funnyman Mike Judge is in no hurry to return to the motion picture business. He is, however, getting ready to bring a new animated series to the small screen. Variety reports that ABC have ordered 13 episodes of The Goode Family, a show that centers on a “do-gooder family that tries to do the right thing in all facets of life”. Even from that short description, I’m sure we can already see where Judge’s mind is going with this.
This will be Judge’s first new animated series in over 10 years (King of the Hill launched back in 1997), and it will be ABC’s first foray back into animation after Kevin Smith’s short-lived Clerks series in 2000. I’ve generally been a fan of just about everything Mike Judge has done (ironically, his biggest hit King of the Hill is the one show I never really got into), so I’ll definitely tune in to check it out. Media Rights Capital have an interim agreement with the WGA so they’re already hard at work writing the first batch of episodes.

i love King of the Hill…
I get the idea the Goode Family will be stereotypical neohippie liberals or something… on KotH he frequenly makes fun of educated people, so I wouldnt be smart if this Goode family are more Clinton than Flanders.
