Sleepwalking Trailer Starring Charlize Theron and Nick Stahl

I’ve been looking forward to Bill Maher’s upcoming documentary Religulous, but I hadn’t heard anything about him becoming a full-time filmmaker. So when I saw this new trailer for an indie film called Sleepwalking, I was a little bit shocked to see him listed as the director. Turns out it’s a totally different Bill Maher (who henceforth is going under the name William Maher); this one has worked in special effects for a while now, having contributed to such movies as X-Men, X2: X-Men United, and The Chumscrubber. Sleepwalking is his debut feature film, and it stars a solid cast that includes Charlize Theron, Nick Stahl, Dennis Hopper, and Woody Harrelson. The movie revolves around a young girl, played by AnnaSophia Robb (Bridge to Terabithia), who is forced to deal with her mother abandoning her. The music in the trailer would seem to indicate that it’s more of a dramedy, but I didn’t see anything in the trailer that was particularly funny (well, except for Dennis Hopper who is always funny). Still, with a cast like this, Sleepwalking could well be worth checking out. The trailer is embedded below; it hits theatres on March 14th.

  1. I love Charlize but I’m more looking forward to seeing Nick Stahl and annasophia Robb.

  2. Maybe it’s the music or maybe it’s the line about sleepwalking in the truck, but this movie looks a little too sappy/falsely uplifting for my taste. It just feels like they’re going to spend an hour and a half shoving cheap emotions down the viewer’s throats and whispering meaningful nothings at one another. No thanks.

  3. Woody Harrelson is turning up everywhere! I’m all for it, he’s an enjoyable man in films.

  4. Dito what Henrik said. Harrelson is always fun to watch.
