Extreme Movie: A Spoof of Teenage Sex Comedies?

Can you believe it? There is yet another spoof movie on the way bearing the dubious “Movie” name, but before we all jump to conclusions and cut it up, let’s take a look at the facts. Extreme Movie “follows a group of high school geeks on their journey through the joys and embarrassments of teen sex… but mostly the embarrassments”. Now, at this point it would seem to be a low brow parody of recent teenage sex comedies, and considering the directors Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson also wrote Not Another Teen Movie, there’s no reason to think otherwise. However, let’s take a look at the long list of writers involved in this; among them: Lonely Island members Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, and Clone High writers Erica Rivinoja, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller.
What does it all mean? Could this actually be good? I wasn’t a big fan of Hot Rod, but wait, there’s more: the movie actually stars Michael Cera (along with Frankie Muniz and Jamie Kennedy). The weirdest thing of all is that the movie appears to be going direct to video in the near future. Amazon says Dimension Extreme will be releasing it on April 1st. Why have we not heard anything about it yet? There are certainly a lot of warning signs here, but at the same time, there are people involved who would seem to be above it. What do you think? Anyone else out there know anything about this flick?

I’ve seen Not Another Teen Movie, and to be honest… I didnt hate it. its not mindblowingly insulting, it caters to a specific audience and has plenty of cheap jokes, but lets just say on the comedy scale, i’d put it above MAD TV
Posted by Goon on February 7th, 2008At this point, I’m pretty much willing to watch anything Michael Cera is in. So long as he’s not just there in a small cameo, I’ll probably check this movie out sometime.
Posted by Rian on February 7th, 2008Agreed w/Goon. NATM is actually one of the better “spoof” movies from the last decade…though obviously that’s not saying a great deal.
Posted by Snorfle on February 7th, 2008This movie was supposed to be released in the theaters under its previous name “Parental Guidance Suggested”, but that could not get an “R” rating, so it was either cut it up or go direct to video with no rating at all. Very out of control in the Kentucky Fried Movie way, but way more outrageous.
Posted by Moviefan2008 on February 10th, 2008I have been following this film for a year now ever since I heard Ryan Pinkston was one of the main characters. I noticed its stock plumeted the other day. Anyone have any updates? I was really looking forward to seeing Cera and Pinkston on the screen together I think they would make a great duo.
Posted by BritFilm on April 1st, 2008I think that “Extreme Movie is good”.
Posted by Jamassait on June 13th, 2008But, When is the premiere in the movie theatres? When?
If Ryan Pinkston is in it I WILL GO SEE it he is hilarious.
Posted by DWilliams on October 28th, 2008It was so much fun to be a part of this hilarious movie, I know everyone enjoyed working on it; just don’t understand why they are holding it back. Check out the outtake video at
