Taken Trailer Starring Liam Neeson

Not to be confused with Steven Spielberg mini-series of the same name, Taken is a new thriller from producer/co-writer Luc Besson about a former spy (Liam Neeson) whose daughter (Maggie Grace) gets kidnapped. There have been a lot of movies coming lately that involve spies and espionage, and personally I’m all for it. Watching the trailer for this movie, however, I couldn’t help thinking that I’d rather see someone like Viggo Mortensen in the lead role instead of Neeson. Neeson can definitely be a bad ass when he needs to be, but for some reason I was getting a bit of an Eastern Promises vibe from the movie (although the Russian mafia is certainly nowhere to be seen). Director Pierre Morel is the same guy who brought us the no-nonsense action flick District B13, so we can probably assume there will be some killer fight scenes in the flick as well, even if we don’t see any of it in the trailer. Check out the clip embedded below and see what you think. Taken hits theatres sometime in 2008.

  1. do you think that people are a little tired of vigo and liam is a breathe of fresh air. i saw history of violence and liked it and i am looking forward to seeing taken.

  2. When Neeson delivered that line about finding the guy and killing him, I was immediately hooked. Count me in.

  3. Looks alright. Not a big Liam Neeson fan, and definitely NOT a fan of asshole Leland Orser who is in this film. I liked the reply to the speech, seemed to sorta take the piss out the ridiculous monologue. I absolutely agree with Viggo Mortensen being a ten times better choice for this. Can anybody be threated by Liam Neeson? It guess alot of people liked Batman Begins where he was the rough teacher, but this didn’t seem very convincing to me (and neither did Batman Begins to be clear).

  4. Henrik is chatting rubish.

Even though I think VIggo Mortenson is a fine, quality actor (hail to King Aragorn, I still believe Liam Neeson is a quality actor too.

He was awsome in Rob Roy and in the kingdom of heaven and even as Quigon Jinn in starwars and as such I shall not hear a bad word against him!

I Can not believe Henrik did not understand Batman begins as it was a very easy film to understand.

I am now convinced that the reason he is not a Liam Neeson fan is because he does not have the mental capacity to understand any of the rols the Liam has stared in!!

  5. i like the movie this is the movie that no one can compare..
