The latest news is that there are three more directors vying for the job on this movie. They are Joe Johnston, Frank Darabont and James Mangold. Some interesting choices there and the one I would go for is Frank Darbont.

I don’t hate Brett Ratner, but I do hate most of his movies. I’ve been really excited about this project since I first heard about it but this news makes it hard to have any real expectations for it. Maybe if instead of Benicio Del Toro turning into a werewolf under the full moon, Chris Tucker should turn into Jackie Chan every time his voice reaches above the normal pitch of an average human being. I admit, I would go see that movie.

I dont understand how this can happen. Doesnt Benicio Del Toro have a say in this? If so, why in hell would he want his pet project handed over to Ratner???

it’s almost like Ratner avoids trying to be stylistic, he seems content with just “getting it finished”…he is more suited for tv.

I think Ratner deserves (nearly) all the criticism he gets. I hated the Rush Hour movies (haven’t seen no. 3) and Red Dragon was a waste of a great cast. As for X-Men III he just seemed to be brought on board to be a yes man for the studios and knock anything out just to get it in cinemas for the release date.
