Channing Tatum is Duke in G.I. Joe?

Last week, Latino Review reported that the casting choices for the lead role of Duke in the upcoming G.I. Joe movie were down to three possibilities: Chris Evans, Channing Tatum, and Matthew Fox. Now it looks like they’ve finally made a decision, and they’re going with Channing Tatum, best known for starring in such movies as Step Up, She’s The Man, and A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.
I’m not all that familiar with Tatum, but if you ask me, they’ve chosen the best of the three. He looks the part (even if he is a little young to be a Sergeant), and he is supposedly pretty good with martial arts as well. Yeah, he is also a former model and a bit of a pretty boy, but the movie obviously needs to have some female appeal. I still think this movie is going to have one weird ass cast when all is said and done, but I’m trying not to be too cynical about it until we see some footage. Can someone like Channing Tatum carry the film both dramatically and commercially? I think so. But I think it really all depends on how much chemistry he has with his wisecracking sidekick Marlon Wayans!

This guy is playing ‘Pretty Boy Floyd’ in Michael Manns next movie as well. He could be blowing up.
