A Raisin in the Sun Trailer Starring Sean P. Diddy Combs

Well, you know him as a musician, fashion mogul and businessman, but is the world really ready for P. Diddy: The Actor? He seems to think so. Although he has had a few roles in movies like Monster’s Ball, Made and Carlito’s Way: Rise to Power, apparently his big break is this made for TV special called A Raisin in the Sun, based on the Broadway stage production. A trailer for the movie has just turned up online, and while it may very well be an emotional and heartfelt movie about a poor black family in Chicago in the 50’s, the whole thing is overshadowed by P. Diddy’s shameless self-promotion.

The first minute of the trailer is literally just a plea from Combs himself asking us to tune in, covering up the fact that it’s a low budget made for TV movie by reminding us that it doesn’t cost anything to watch it (it’s his gift to us… what a swell guy). To be fair, the movie has the distinction of being the only TV movie to ever play at Sundance, and the stage cast members have won Tony Awards for their performances. Plus the movie apparently features John Stamos in the role of “racist white guy”, so that may be worth checking out. A Raisin in the Sun airs on ABC on February 25th; check out the trailer below.

  1. Hearing his speech, he sounds a fake serious-guy; what loser! So i’ll watch that f**king role he plays.

  2. “’tis a movie ’bout the dream. The dream that I personify”

Hilarious. I think if I was being subjected to idiots like this on a daily basis on the set of a movie, I would turn into a “racist white guy” myself.

  3. My friends and I have a drinking game where you listen to a Notorious B.I.G. record and whenever Puffy says “Uh”,”Yeah” “Whazzat?” etc. in the background you drink. It’s probably more fun than this movie will be.

  4. Oh man. That intro really knocks down the trailer a few notches – not that it was great to begin with. A bit sad really. So it’s P. Diddy, The Full House dude, the mother from The Cosby Show, Morgan Freeman doing the voice over and music from a soundtrack that I can’t place at the moment but which I’ve heard recently. Looks sad.

  5. What a tool

  6. I think that music was from the trailer for Elizabeth the Golden Age.

  7. I’ve heard that music in PBS ads.

  8. stop hating on the dude, get a life.
