Jason Statham's a great actor and all, but the gothic apparel just doesn't seem to fit with his features. Put Mark Dacascos back in instead. He's perfect for that part. Cut to last night, I watched Rise of the Silver Surfer and hated it, but I can't help but be interested in seeing a third film if it were to have Namor in it. A solo Sub-Mariner movie doesn't really interest me, but even though I'm sure a third FF movie would suck as bad as the first two, I'd like to see a recreation of the classic Namor/Human Torch battle (even though it wasn't the Human Torch from the movies) and the story line in which Namor tries to steal the Invisible Woman away from Mr. Fantastic. As for Jason Statham? Give him the haircut and try to hide the accent a bit and I could see it working. You can only screw it up. The emotional baggage attached to the first film, from James O'Barr's tragic comic foundation to the death of Brandon Lee, was part of what made the piece unique and good. The sequels have progressively degraded the franchise. Brandon Lee was not a huge star when he made The Crow. Adding one to a remake will not make it good. The one-time chemistry that produced the original needs to be left to the fans who love the property and still watch the original on DVD (like me). I, personally, have even less interest in seeing a remake than I have in seeing the sequels. I saw City of Angels, and it was awful. You know that's what they would do to a remake of the original (which all of the sequels basically were anyway).
