Oliver Stone to Direct George W. Bush Biopic Starring Josh Brolin?

Seeing as April Fool’s is still a few months away, I can only assume this next story is actually for real. Oliver Stone, the director behind such presidential biopics as Nixon and JFK is now taking on the legacy of another true American… none other than George W. Bush! The script for this project was written by Stanley Weiser (Wall Street, Rudy: The Rudy Giuliani Story) prior to the WGA strike. Josh Brolin (!!!) is attached to play the starring role.
Wow, what an odd concept. I mean, Bush is still in office as we speak. The obvious question is whether or not this is a movie that would be critical of Bush or supportive, and knowing that Oliver Stone often makes patriotic films, one might assume the latter. However, according to Coming Soon, Stone has compared the story structure to The Queen, in that it will simply show how he came to power in a mostly objective way. Either way, it’s a pretty touchy role for Brolin to take on. I mean, how do you portray George W. Bush on the big screen? Like a hero? Like a redneck? Like the clueless puppet that he sometimes appears to be? Either way, I am very curious to see what comes of this. (And yes, I hope he calls it Bush.)
