Monday Morning Box Office Report – Jan. 14, 2008

No one could top the star power of Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman as The Bucket List just barely edged out Ice Cube’s First Sunday for the top spot at the box office this weekend. I wasn’t surprised that The Bucket List did well, but First Sunday? Really? There are that many hardcore Ice Cube fans out there? Juno had another great weekend, taking in $14 million, while National Treasure: Book of Secrets and Alvin and the Chipmunks are still hanging in the Top 5 almost a month after their release. I Am Legend has even more legs, topping the foreign box office for the fourth week in a row and placing it as the #6 highest grossing movie of 2007! Crazy.
1. The Bucket List — $19.5M
2. First Sunday — $19M
3. Juno — $14M
4. National Treasure: Book of Secrets — $11.5M
5. Alvin and the Chipmunks — $9.1M
6. I Am Legend — $8.13M
7. One Missed Call — $6.13M
8. P.S. I Love You — $5M
9. The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie — $4.42M
10. Atonement — $4.3M

I’m glad to see that Juno is doing as well as it is because I still haven’t gotten a chance to see it yet and am trying to find a time to do so before it leaves theaters. Here’s hoping that it lasts into next week.
