Yeah the fact that the Globes have a separate category for comedies and musicals is, in theory, kind of cool because it gives recognition to something other than dramas. But because it lumps the comedies in with musicals, it's almost always the musicals that win.

Is one of the catrgories seriously Best Comedy or Musical? If so, does that mean that the saddest, most depressing musical of all time could theoretically go up against a Will Ferrell movie or something? That seems wrong.

I was pretty satisfied with the results of most of the acting categories, but I just about died when Atonement was announced as the Best Picture winner. Atonement? Really? I still can't wrap my head around what's supposed to be so great about this movie, but then again aside from No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood, I didn't think most of the Best Picture nominees were anything special, so maybe it's a weak year.

Thank god Daniel Day-Lewis and Cate Blanchett won, though, or else I would have lost what little faith I have in these awards ceremonies.
