Saw this film at the New York Film Festival.
Typical Gus pacing coupled with bad acting made this one a loser in my book.

I attend his films for the Cinematography mostly, which offered nothing remarkable here. (Who could forget the shots in Elephant, where you move from outside through the school in one continuous shot - WOW.)

Some may find something to enjoy from this film but the overall reception in NY was one of disappointment. Maybe we're just jaded.

Lastly, IFC backed it, only a matter of time before you catch it on network or DVD. Save your dollars for something spectacular such as THERE WILL BE BLOOD!

I haven't seen last days but I enjoyed Elephant - mostly for it's pacing and the fact that, until I saw it, I hadn't really seen anything like it so it was new and innovative.

The description for this film in the VIFF festival guide was a paragraph long and half of it focused on van Sant's other work. I was curious by a teaser that popped up around the time of Cannes but this full trailer really packs some punch. I'm in.

I didn't see Elephant, but I thought Last Days was super boring and visually OK. But I'll give this a chance. It definitely looks like it could be interesting. Gus Van Sant's pictures in the Stadium Arcadium Booklet are fantastic too.
