This Week on DVD – Jan. 8, 2008
Some solid releases in stores this week, including the Christian Bale/Russell Crowe remake of 3:10 to Yuma, Danny Boyle’s Sunshine, New Zealand comedy Eagle vs Shark, and David Fincher’s Director’s Cut of Zodiac. Also, if you’re looking for some decent genre flicks, you’ve got your choice of James Wan’s Death Sentence, Korean monster epic Dragon Wars (aka D-War) and Boogeyman 2. I should also point out that Greg can’t recommend the Anna Faris stoner comedy Smiley Face highly enough!

How weird is it that Sunshine came out in april last year, and 3:10 to Yuma has not come out yet, but I’m reading here that both are out on DVD on the same day? Distribution is shit in this world.
I do want to see Zodiac though. And possible D-War. Hopefully D-War will be better than this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=TFQqmHQMJBY
Posted by Henrik on January 8th, 2008I fully intend to pick up both 3:10 To Yuma and the new version of the Zodiac DVD, but I’m ost excited for Sunshine, which I missed when it was in theaters. Plus Con Air and The Rock on Blu-Ray? Score!
Posted by Rian on January 8th, 2008I’m curious about Death Sentence and D-Wars but Zodiac is what I’m picking up.
I couldn’t wait so I ordered the UK release of Sunshine months ago. Thankfully, it doesn’t look like the US release is any different. Even the packaging is the same.
Posted by Marina on January 8th, 2008I liked the theater version of Zodiac I saw, so I’m looking forward to that double disc. I also liked Smiley Face, kind of. Anna Faris’performance is great, but the movie gets really preachy by the end. I guess it’s kind of futile to critique a stoner comedy though. So bring on the Zodiac.
