Film Junk Weekend Wrap-Up: Jan. 6, 2008

2008 got off to a pretty uneventful start in terms of general movie news, but if you’re at all interested in the future of high-definition DVDs, the announcement of Warner’s Blu-ray exclusivity is one that sent major shockwaves through the industry. The full repercussions are yet to be felt, but one thing’s for sure… HD-DVD is currently up against the ropes.
Other than that, there were a few news stories that we didn’t get around to posting, including a pretty big one from before Christmas about Smallville star Kristen Kreuk signing on to star in Andrzej Bartkowiak’s Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li. And just in case you forgot that Hollywood will do pretty much anything to make a buck, the WB reportedly optioned the rights for a sequel to I Am Legend. Uh… wha???

Killer pic of Kristin Kreuk there. As a “Chun-Li”, I dunno, as long as she can do the childish laugh after winning each fight.
