Open Forum Friday: What Are Your Most Anticipated Movies of 2008?

Now that most of the 2007 best of lists have been posted and everyone is done recapping the past year in movies, it’s time to turn our attention to 2008. If 2007 was a banner year for franchise sequels, 2008 surely won’t be far behind, as there almost as many major sequels, remakes and updates planned for the next 12 months.
On this week’s Film Junk Podcast we will be providing a 2008 preview of sorts by counting down our own most anticipated movies of the year, but I thought why not start the discussion here and now? Tell us what movies are you most looking forward to in 2008, and why. I’ve chosen 10 of the most obvious titles for inclusion in the poll below, but feel free to sound off in greater detail in the comments section below. Give us your thoughts here on Open Forum Friday!

Posted by Grammaton Cleric on January 4th, 2008Harry potter dosn’t come out this year, does it?
Posted by Drew on January 4th, 2008Yep, it’s supposed to be out in November.
Posted by Sean on January 4th, 2008Damn… that’s a whole lot of movies I’m excited about… just in that list! That doesn’t happen all the time. I feel like such a sucker for saying Wall-E, but I’m pretty sure it’s true. Though Indiana Jones and The Dark Knight are up there as well…. and *cough*Harry Potter*cough*.
Posted by Derek on January 4th, 2008Yeah, that’s a nice list of blockbusters to look forward to but at the top of my list is X-Files 2.
Posted by Marina on January 4th, 2008Prince Caspian and Indiana Jones (tie).
Posted by Baychuk on January 4th, 2008Dark Knight…oh yes…the Dark Knight.
Posted by Mike on January 4th, 2008I’m still preying for Star Trek. I have gotten pretty excited for Cloverfield though. I was just at the theatre and those cardboard stands of the smashed Statue of Liberty and the trailer combined made me think this could actually be a cool movie. Too bad they probably showed all of the military action scenes in the trailer, and there’s probably going to be alot of focus on the love story, which is GHEY.
Posted by Henrik on January 4th, 2008Man just from the list it looks like it’ll be a good year but I’m a child of the 1980’s growing up in Rural California so Indy’s the only choice for me.
Posted by Ian on January 4th, 20081) Indiana Jones 2) The Dark Knight 3) Speed Racer
Posted by Captain N on January 4th, 2008Last year I had no trouble choosing a most anticipated film, but this year there’s no runaway choice for me. I suppose that if I had to choose I would go with a movie that isn’t on this list: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I’m always excited for a new David Fincher movie. I’m also looking forward to Iron Man, Hellboy 2, The Hulk, Indiana Jones, and Wall-E.
Posted by Rian on January 5th, 2008Synedoch, Wild Things, Be Kind Rewind. And Star has piqued my curiosity and Cloverfield.
Posted by Rusty James on January 6th, 2008That should be Star Trek of course.
Posted by Rusty James on January 6th, 2008Star Trek beats out Harry Potter and Wall-E COMBINED on FilmJunk… I wish this place was the world.
Posted by Henrik on January 7th, 2008Having just finished reading the novel, The Ruins is now one of my most anticipated movies of the year.
