Man in the Chair Trailer Starring Christopher Plummer and Michael Angarano

Here’s an interesting little indie flick that stars the great Christopher Plummer in a performance that many are deeming Oscar-worthy. Man in the Chair is the story of Flash, a former Hollywood gaffer who has worked on such films as Citizen Kane, but who now finds his glory days far behind him. He’s a cranky old man who doesn’t have many friends, but when troubled teen Cameron (Michael Angarano) approaches him and asks for help making a student film, an unlikely friendship is born. Flash starts recruiting all his retired Hollywood friends to work on this small production, making for a tale that is both humourous and heart-warming. Director Michael Schroeder doesn’t have many high-profile titles on his resume (Cyborg 2 and 3 anyone?) but you can’t help but wonder if the story behind this flick is somewhat auto-biographical. Either way it does look promising, although there hasn’t been much talk about this flick outside of the praise we see in the trailer. Man in the Chair is currently playing in select theatres; check out the trailer over at Apple via the link below.

I gotta be honest, based on the trailer this film looks like over-sentimental drivel. Jokes about old people and their medication? High school kids bullying each other over how talented they are at making movies? Bah!
Posted by Rian on December 20th, 2007Agreed, that’s exactly what I was thinking. I was horrified when I saw that bullying scene.
This trailer challenges P.S. I love You for worst trailer in recent memory.

The movie is one of the best ones I have seen for a long time. I had the great honor to talk to the actors and the director and ask questions. This movie is A+ from storyline through editing.
