David Gordon Green’s Snow Angels Trailer Starring Kate Beckinsale

David Gordon Green made his debut on the indie film scene in 2000 with a movie called George Washington, heralded by Roger Ebert as one of his top 10 movies of that year. He has since been building up a reputation as a brilliant up and coming filmmaker, eventually leading to a gig directing the Seth Rogen comedy Pineapple Express (in theatres next summer). But before that movie is released, Green’s fourth feature film Snow Angels will hit select theatres in March.

Snow Angels (like pretty much all of his movies) takes place in a small town and revolves around a number of interwoven tragedies. Based on the novel by Stewart O’Nan, it stars Kate Beckinsale as Annie, whose marriage to Glenn (Sam Rockwell) is crumbling. Amy Sedaris co-stars as Annie’s best friend Barb, and Michael Angarano plays Arthur Parkinson, the 15 year old boy around whom the multiple storylines center. Although the movie is reportedly quite depressing and bleak, it did get a lot of strong reviews coming out of Sundance. Take a look at the trailer now via the link below. Snow Angels will get a limited release on March 7th.

  1. I can’t say that this trailer did much to make me excited for the film, but I do love me some Nicky Katt.

  2. David Gorden Green hmmm… this is a real love hate thing for me. I like this guys style, I think he is one of the few directors david lynch being another. That can make a really dreamlike movie. All of his films feel dream like.

But I don’t like the stories or lack of one in just about all of hims movies. I have to watch George Washington again but I remember not liking it very much.

  3. First it was big ships, then asteroids, then it was global disasters, and now… prepare for an endless slew of MISSING CHILDREN movies!!

  4. Story looks a little conventional, but very well crafted. Plus, a little Nikki Kat never hurt anyone. Plus I’ll see just about anything with Beckinsdale. I’d pay to watch her stare at a wall for two hours.

  5. I saw this movie. It’s actually pretty great… and it’s not really a “missing children” movie. The little girl is missing during part of it, but it’s only a small part of the overall plot. I think this trailer is a little misleading. The movie has a nice indie-feel and a great look about it. I love that.
The characters are endearing, emotive, and complicated. It’s definitely a sad one, but also definitely worth seeing.

  6. David Gordon Green is going to be huge at some point, All The Real Girls was amazing. He very seldom gets good reviews, his movies are real life, no fairy tale endings, no Hollywood mainstream crap yet.
