I was honestly more excited about the Joker when we were just getting glimpses of him in images around the net. Now that we’ve seen him in motion, I’m a little unsure. I’m a huge comic book nerd, but Batman has never really been my cup of tea, so maybe I’m just biased. Heath Ledger, though I’d have never expected it, looks like he’s taking to the role well, but some things like the incredibly deep and grumbly voice Joker seems to be sporting most of the time are throwing me off a little. I guess I’m just used to Mark Hamill’s interpretation from the Batman animated series.

To my own surprise I really liked Batman Begins when I saw it in the theater, but upon watching it again on DVD I like it less and less each time I see it. I suppose we’ll see what happens with The Dark Knight. I think the thing I’ve been most pleased with concerning this sequel is William Fichtner with a shotgun in the 6 minute preview.

I liked the trailer more in the crappy youtube quality. It looked alot more expressionistic, because the color quality was so shitty, and got me excited. I don’t like seeing normal skin under make-up for the Joker.

That being said, I am excited to see The Joker. I have always liked Heath Ledger, and the biggest fear with this film, was that it would turn into a ridiculous hyperserious scenario like the first one. But in this trailer they still do show The Joker firing some massive cannon and stuff, which is what it’s all about. We probably won’t get his awesome gun ala Tim Burton’s Batman, but as long as they have him doing outrageous stuff and have fun with it, it should be good. Hopefully there will be a lot less focus on Bruce Wayne in this one, because he is portrayed so boring in this franchise. The only real shitty part of this trailer, is Michael Caine being the moral compass of the world and giving a grown man life lessons. He is an employee, not a fucking motivational speaker. At least that’s how it is in the good comics.
